This is the clearest difference. The Sienna is hybrid-only and returns about 36 mpg combined. The Carnival lets you choose: a smooth 287-horsepower V6, or a new hybrid making about 242 combined horsepower and roughly 33 mpg combined. If maximum efficiency is the goal the Sienna leads; if you want a V6 or a choice of powertrains, the Carnival delivers.
One Sienna advantage worth noting: it offers all-wheel drive, while the Carnival is front-wheel drive only. For most Middle Georgia buyers front-wheel drive is plenty, but if you want all-weather traction in a minivan, the Sienna has it.
Both seat seven or eight and offer generous cargo room. The Carnival counters with available VIP Lounge second-row seats on the top trim and about 40.2 cubic feet of cargo behind the third row.
The Carnival carries a 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty versus the Sienna’s 5-year / 60,000-mile coverage, a meaningful difference for long-term owners.
