This is the real decision. The Carnival is a minivan: sliding doors, a low step-in height, and easy third-row access make it the better people-mover for car seats and frequent passengers. The Palisade is a three-row SUV with available all-wheel drive and a more traditional SUV shape.
The Palisade now seats up to nine, while the Carnival seats up to eight but offers more usable cargo room behind the third row and available VIP Lounge second-row seats. For maximum passenger count the Palisade edges ahead; for everyday hauling and access the Carnival is hard to beat.
The Palisade tows up to 5,000 pounds and offers all-wheel drive, while the Carnival tows up to 3,500 pounds and is front-wheel drive only. If you tow or want all-weather traction, the Palisade has the edge.
